Marble Retreat is a professional Counseling Ministry dedicated to helping Christian pastors, missionaries, leaders, and their families grow in spiritual wellbeing, healthy relationships, and ministry effectiveness.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Counselor to join our team. As a Mental Health Counselor, you will be responsible for providing professional counseling services to full-time vocational ministry leaders both individuals and couples, addressing a wide range of mental health concerns, especially as it pertains to being in ministry. The ideal candidate will be licensed in a counseling related field, possess strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of various therapeutic approaches, an understanding of ministry related challenges and stressors, as well as experience with counseling Christian Leaders.

Provide excellent professional individual and group counseling for missionaries, pastors, and others in full-time vocational ministry and their spouses in an 8-day intensive program.

Responsibilities:

1. Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients’ mental health, emotional well-being, and life circumstances.
  • Evaluate clients to determine the appropriate therapeutic interventions and treatment plans

2. Individual and Group Counseling:

  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address clients’ emotional, psychological, and behavioral issues.
  • Develop and implement effective therapeutic strategies tailored to meet the unique needs of each client within the intensive model.

3. Treatment Planning:

  • Collaborate with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that align with their goals and objectives.

4. Crisis Intervention:

  • Work with clients to develop crisis management plans to enhance their coping skills when needed.

5. Documentation and Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, documenting counseling sessions, assessments, and treatment plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and ethical standards in record-keeping and documentation.

6. Collaboration and Consultation:

  • • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, social workers, counselors, and medical professionals, to provide follow up care for clients.
  • Consult with colleagues to enhance treatment approaches and share expertise.
  • Collaborate with a ministry leader’s board or supervisor, as needed for returning to work in a healthy manner.

Education/ Professional Experience and Qualifications:

1. Master’s or Doctoral degree in a clinical mental health discipline (i.e., Clinical Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy.)
2. A current license to practice in a mental health or professional counseling field.
3. Demonstrated experience in providing counseling services to Christian Leaders.
4. Strong knowledge of ethical guidelines and professional standards in counseling.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning.
8. Personal ministry experience, which provides a foundational understanding of the challenges encountered by ministry leaders.
9. Versatile Clinical competencies such as trauma care, couple’s therapy, group therapy, depression and anxiety treatment, etc.
