Chaplain (Colonel) Jon R. Stovall (Ret.)

Board Member

Chaplain Endorser for Military Services & Veterans’ Affairs

Jon grew up as a young cowboy in the Black Hills of South Dakota. There he enjoyed ranch life, including hunting, fishing, haying, horseback riding and roping. As a youth he joined FFA where he learned to weld and work on small engines. He also joined 4-H where he enjoyed showing horses and cattle at stock shows, as well as team roping at rodeo competitions. With a passion for the great outdoors and flying, he would later receive his pilot’s license to fly small aircraft.

After completing high school and college, he married the love of his life, Peggoty Autry of North Carolina. As a registered nurse, she provided for the family as Jon attended and graduated from two seminaries, North American in South Dakota and Southeastern in North Carolina. Upon graduation they both took a short-term missionary assignment to the Netherland Antilles.

Soon thereafter, Jon received a call to serve in the United States Air Force as a chaplain. After several stateside assignments, two tours to Germany, staff member at the USAF Chaplain School, Assignment officer assigning chaplains to their duty station across the world, a post-graduate school assignment at Catholic University of America studying Spiritual Direction, and several deployments serving Airmen during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, Jon retired from the military after nearly 28 years of service.

Shortly after retiring from the military, Jon was called and blessed to serve as pastor of the historic Mable Community Church in the great state of Colorado. Here he served for approximately 12 years and in 2023 retired from pastoring. Fortunately during this same time period Jon was introduced to Marble Retreat and now serves as a Board member.

Tim Haugen

Board Member

Lead Pastor, Grace Church
Gladstone, MI

Tim Haugen joined the board of directors of Marble Retreat in March of 2021.  Tim is married to his wife, Ann.  They have three adult daughters who are each married, and the LORD has given to Tim and Ann nine grandchildren. Over four decades of pastoral ministry, Pastor Tim has served as a youth pastor, a teaching pastor, a lead pastor, and in more recent years has served churches as an intentional interim pastor. Pastor Tim desires to see multiplication in ministry.  Investment in Christian leaders can be a strategic component of gospel advance and Kingdom multiplication.  It was through a broken world experience in their own lives over two decades ago that Tim and Ann became more aware of the humbling restorative grace of the LORD. It transformed their marriage and their ministry. That is why Tim and Ann are invested in the ongoing ministry of Marble Retreat. When limping Christian leaders can be restored and rejuvenated, they can return to their ministries with greater capacity for meaningful investment in the lives of those they serve. By God’s grace, this can result in gospel advance and Kingdom multiplication. Tim is a graduate of Bethel University in Arden Hills, MN, and Denver Seminary in Denver, CO. He did doctoral work at Gordon- Conwell Seminary in South Hamilton, MA. Tim and Ann consider it a great privilege to be partners in the work of Marble Retreat.

Bob Kulick

Board Member

Bob likes to refer to himself as “a retired pizza delivery guy who is now just a board guy in training to be an astronaut.” That’s really just a short way of saying he was partner and president in CiCi’s Pizza and JMC Restaurant Distribution. CiCi’s grew to over 600 pizza buffet restaurants in 36 states and JMC had 3 distribution centers and nearly 100 18-wheelers to deliver all the products for the restaurant operations when he retired in 2012 after selling the company to a private equity company.

After retirement, Bob was asked to join 3 ministry boards: Wingmen Ministries was started by former Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Chad Hennings as a ministry to provide accountability, affirmation and acceptance in a Christian setting to men. The Center for Church Renewal is a multifaceted ministry started by pastor, writer  and counselor Dr. Gene Getz. Currently, one of the main focuses of this ministry is translating his Life Essentials Study Bible into numerous languages to be distributed around the world. Bob also served as Chairman of Lifeline Global Ministries until 2022 bringing the Malachi Dads program to incarcerated men and the Hanna’s Gift program to incarcerated women around the world. These programs taught Christian principles and reconnected incarcerated parents with their children to break the cycle of generational incarceration.

Prior to his retirement, he had served on the board of Happy Hill Farm and Academy, a Christian home and school for at-risk youth.

Bob and his wife Donna have 5 children and 5 grandchildren between them. They enjoy travel (especially adventure travel), motorcycle riding, and a variety of outdoor experiences. They split their time between the Dallas, Texas area and Marble, CO.

Bob’s adventure travel has included paddling a canoe from Montreal to the Gulf of Mexico as a crew member in LaSalle: Expedition II, an authentic reenactment of LaSalle’s 1681-82 expedition, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro (during which he raised over $28,000 for Happy Hill), diving with sharks, racing a motorcycle on the Baja 500 course, hiking Patagonia and kayaking across Lake Titicaca among others. His ultimate adventure travel will hopefully take place soon as Future Astronaut number 176 with Virgin Galactic.

Our story

about Marble Retreat: a Pastor Retreat in Colorado

Marble Retreat was born out of the conviction that clergy and others in Christian service, have extreme job demands which can frequently result in symptoms of depression, anxiety, frustration, discouragement and burnout. Worse still and because of their position, they find it difficult to seek help.

These factors, and God’s call, led Mayo Clinic-trained psychiatrist Louis McBurney, M.D. and his wife, Melissa, to begin the ministry of Marble Retreat in 1974, over 40 years ago. Marble Retreat has now served the Christian counseling needs of more than 5,000 Church leaders who have come from every state and more than 60 countries. Learn more about us here.
