Marble Retreat opened its doors in 1974 to provide counseling for Christian leaders such as pastors, missionaries, and parachurch leaders. Louis and Melissa McBurney had a passion and calling to provide a place for Christian leaders to come to receive counsel, rest, and care. Many in ministry have no one to turn to when they are in need of being ministered to. Who pastors the pastor? Every Christian leader needs to be led at times.
As we know, Jesus took the 5 loaves of bread and the two fish and fed 5,000 men and in addition the women and children and there were 12 baskets of food left over. The moral of the story for us kids was to not dismiss our own gifts no matter how insignificant we thought that those gifts were because Jesus could take our humbling offerings and make them into something beautiful and impactful.
